About
First, thank you for visiting Modern Masculinity.
This site is intended to provide insight into the role of men in modern society. As the site owner, and primary author, my views will be imposed upon the reader. To give you some background, I did not grow up as a macho guy, a tough guy, or even a popular guy. I was a nerd, playing with computers and hanging out with the misfits of my school. I’ve been married, had a child, divorced, remarried, had another child, and I continue to be happy in my second marriage.
I’m a self-styled pig: I enjoy the sight of an attractive woman, and most women are attractive in some facet or another. It may be her looks, her personality, or her feminine energy shining through, but there is usually some aspect which is attractive to me. On the other side of the coin, if I give myself away to a strange woman, allowing her to notice my attention, I’ve made a mistake. In the long run, this attitude has benefited me, my wife, and my female friends; they all appreciate my honesty and openness about who I am, what I like, and what I do.
I will open a door for a woman. I would step in to defend a woman against a male attacker. I will not strike a woman. I disagree with those who try to place women ahead of men, and those who try to place men ahead of women. I feel that men and women are equal, and different at the same time.
As a father, my boys are my pride and joy. I coach Little League, read stories, change diapers, and occasionally even clean the house.
